Amerigo | Maybe the most fun Feld? |
Andrew, Tony and I managed to explore and colonize the new world in time for Thanksgiving. The real winners of this game may have been the pirates, however. Looking forward to playing the other big new world settling game, Age of Empires III with you guys. |

Ugg-Tect | Save me a seat! |
I don't know how to say, "Please consider this as my RSVP in the affirmative," in caveman-ese, but I am reserving a spot for this! |

Machine of Death: The Game of Creative Assassination | Co-op Mission Mode |
Okay, this game is fun. Who doesn't enjoy creative problem solving!? (I've been in college too long.) I would recommend playing with people you are comfortable with - people who aren't going to harshly judge you for the random nonsensical things that inevitably are going to come out of your mouth while playing this game. No two games are going to be the same, so I'm already looking forward to what wacky assassination methods we'll come up with next time. Oh right - assassinations - so the game is a little morbid, but I felt like everyone got over that quickly. I greatly enjoyed the option of predetermined targets (and difficulty levels), and while I'm sure coming up with your own assassination targets can be rewarding as well, I'm thankful that a whole booklet of targets is provided to choose from! |

BloodLust | First Time Playing |
I would definitely recommend having more than 2 people for this game. Although the manual suggested compensating this by having each of the 2 players have 2 playable characters, I feel as though this only needlessly complicated the game. This is a pretty simple game (only a few pages of instructions) that doesn't require a lot of brainpower. But sometimes that's the kind of game you're looking for! You can carry on other conversation while playing this game, so I'd recommend it for parties. The game play for Bloodlust is basically up to you - since the players decide on the number of rounds that the game will have, you can have a long game or a short game, depending on what you're feeling, but as with many games, I feel that longer is better. Grab some drinks and fellow vampire geeks and go for it. |

Basari | I love this game! |
This is one of my favorite games - simple, but with many strategies to win. I love the aspect of the action card reveals - so much fun and psychology at work there, trying to guess what the other players are going for! This is also a fast-playing game, which is great for getting multiple games in a session. |

Walnut Grove | Game 2 of November Pioneer Saturdays! |
Walnut Grove is the second pioneer-themed game I'm demoing on Saturdays in November. This one combines a couple of my favorite board game mechanics in a completely unique way: tile laying and worker placement! Expanding your homestead and watching your workers starve was never so much fun! |

Glen More | Game 2 of November Sheep Wednesdays! |
So, earlier in the month I ran a demo of Shear Panic and, following in the thematic sheep footsteps of that game, tonight I'm teaching Glen More! Okay, technically Glen More isn't a game about sheep. It's a game about farming in the Scottish highlands, of which raising sheep is just one element. But there is a sheep on the cover and there are white cubes in the game that pretend to be sheep - so I'm going with the whole sheep theme anyway! |

Shear Panic | Shear Panic Demo a Huge Success! |
Thanks to everyone who dropped by for the Shear Panic demo! While teaching the game to a couple hanging out in the cafe at 6:00, several other people were unable to resist the lure of those cute sheep pieces and requested to get in a game after the first was over. I wound up breaking out my extra copy of the game and ran two more games at the same time at 7:00. All together - 7 people learned Shear Panic tonight while participating in a total of three separate games! Sheep-tastic! |

Chess | Speaking of champions... |
Did you know that the current Nebraska state chess champion (well, co-champion) is only 12 years old? The oldest state champ was well past 60 - chess knows no age! So come out to Spielbound and learn more about this great game - whether you've played before or have just always wanted to learn, we'll be there for you Thursday for a great time at Spielbound! |
