Trivia

Terra

Game description from the publisher:

How long is the Golden Gate Bridge?
Where has “evidence" of the Yeti been found?
How many sculptures are on Easter Island?

It‘s likely that you don‘t know any of these facts. But you might have a rough idea, and that‘s good enough because Terra is the party game where being close counts. And if you have absolutely no idea what the answer is? Take advantage of your friends who do know!

Terra is a redesign of Friedemann’s 2009 SDJ-nominated FAUNA, which had similar mechanics, but was specific to animals. Terra changes the subject matter to general geographic information, includes a brand new Imperial measurements map side (retaining the Metric map side for gamers outside the U.S.), has 300 topics (with three categories of questions) on oversized cards, and simplifies the scoring. Terra plays in 45 minutes for 2-6 players.

Timeline Challenge

Timeline is a card game played using 110 cards. Each card depicts a historical event on both sides, with the year in which that event occurred on only one side. Players take turns placing a card from their hand in a row on the table. After placing the card, the player reveals the date on it. If the card was placed correctly with the date in chronological order with all other cards on the table, the card stays in place; otherwise the card is removed from play and the player takes another card from the deck.

The first player to get rid of all his cards by placing them correctly wins. If multiple players go out in the same round, then everyone else is eliminated from play and each of those players are dealt one more card for another round of play. If only one player has no cards after a bonus round, he wins; otherwise play continues until a single player goes out.

Timeline Challenge incorporates the original mechanic of the series into progressive game track, of which players can move between 0-4 spaces per turn. Players will have to make use of pre-determined time periods and guess where the incident depicted on the card occurred. There are four different challenges, and they are played depending on the color of the game space of the lead player. Additionally there are two further challenges which allow the two players at the back of the pack to catch up. Although the game comes with its own cards, it can be integrated with any or all of the previous sets.

Star Trek: Trivia Game

Trivia game containing questions about Star Trek, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Star Trek: Voyager. Answer a question correctly, and receive the color coded insignia for that series. The first player to collect an insignia from each of the four series and correctly answer a final question (other player's choice) wins. Questions can be answered either with three multiple choice options or, for a more difficult variant, without the multiple choice. High quality pictures adorn the front of each trivia question to provide a clue regarding the questions on the card.

Special spaces make for more interesting game play than a typical trivia game

Borg Spaces: When landing here, you must defend your most recent insignia. If you answer the question incorrectly, you lose your most recent insignia.

Starship Spaces: When landing here, you can challenge an opponent for a specific insignia they already have. Answer a question of that series correctly, and you steal your opponent's insignia.

Q Continuum Spaces: When landing here, if you correctly answer a question, you may then move anywhere on the board. If you answer incorrectly, you must move to the closest Borg Space and defend your most recent insignia.

Wormhole Spaces: When landing here, you may choose to move to any of the wormhole spaces on the board and continue your turn. After you have collected one insignia from each of the four series, you must pass through a wormhole to answer the final question in order to win.

Disney Trivia

This is different than the Trivial Pursuit. It was put out by Disney with Mattel. The game comes in a metal film can, and has cute pawns with mouse ears rather than wedges. The board itself is also shaped as a Mickey head, with ears that fold in to a circle for storage in the round container.

Play is pretty standard trivia mechanics, using 5 categories of:

Animation
Film
Song
Personalities
Mousellaneous.

All questions are Disney-related (unlike Trivial Pursuit that has only 1 or 2 Disney questions per card.)

Includes 400 Adult cards (2000 questions) and 100 Kids' cards (500 questions).

Playtime depends on your knowledge of Disney, if you go to the parks and movies often, you'll get questions right and end the game more quickly.
